Richard Hopper, Ph.D.

Executive Vice President - Latin America

Richard Hopper is the Executive Vice President for Latin America for Legacy Transformational Consulting, Inc. Based in Medellin, Colombia, he represents Legacy in Latin America. Richard first became acquainted with Legacy as a client at Comcel, where he was the CFO. He brings to Legacy the rigor and credibility of an experienced CFO, together with a commitment to integrity and trust, and to providing some of the Western Hemisphere's fastest growing companies with methodologies and technologies that produce breakthroughs in executive leadership, high-performance leadership teams and compelling strategic futures.

Richard was educated to be a diplomat (language studies plus M.A. and Ph.D. at the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies), but instead chose a corporate career, beginning as a Senior Financial Analyst at Exxon in New York. Immediately prior to joining Legacy, Richard was the CFO of two multibillion dollar oil pipeline companies, Ocensa in Colombia and OCP in Ecuador, and of the largest wireless telecommunications provider in Colombia, Comcel. Since 2002, Richard has been a Visiting Professor of International Economics at the EAFIT University in Medellin, Colombia.

Richard is known for his record of excellence in corporate finance, strategic planning, organizational development and general management; for his stand that people are an organization's most valuable resource, and for his commitment to the possibility of personal and organizational transformation.

Richard is fluent in English, Spanish and German. He lives in Medellin, Colombia, with his wife, María Cristina Restrepo, a Colombian writer. Richard has four grown children, four granddaughters and a grandson.
